LIES YOU CAN’T MAKE UP – A DRAMA SCRIPT ABOUT JFK

Two-to-eight actors portray galvanizing characters in this drama script about JFK, and who he was and what he represented. The play is non-linear with flashbacks and flash forwards.  The characters are taken from history of the twentieth century and various facts are put forward about their interactions with each other, some true and some fictional.  The real question is –  Which are facts and which are fiction?

At indicated times the characters speak as a unified voice, and may be considered a Greek chorus — which initiated fervent non-linear mantras and morality tales about the complexity and inherent corruption of giving birth and rebirth to democracy.

Length: 120 minutes, two hours.

Actors: Two to eight actors play a variety of characters from history

Set: Staging in a black box features a hierarchy of low, medium and high performance platforms. Perhaps intervals of fog suggest a non-place or, specifically, inside the human mind attuned to the American Experience.

Level of Difficulty: 8/10 – challenge lies in holding audience attention as most of the play is a conversation between characters in history.

PIGEONS – A TWO-ACT DRAMA PLAY

“Pigeons” is a two-act drama about a man named Lester, in his thirties, who is about to inherit a fortune left to him by his dead grandmother on the condition  that he is married before he is thirty five years old. Unfortunately, Lester is a recluse who dropped out of high school in his senior year after failing a course in English. He is completely obsessed with breeding a champion homing pigeon. He spends the better part of his days on the roof of his Philadelphia home with his pigeons.  Lester is supported by his sister, Sistine, a Catholic nun who supports him by bringing food everyday as otherwise he just wouldn’t cope.
Sistine decides to take the matter of Lester being married into her own hands. She brings home a single young woman who works as a clerk at the convent.

Lester has a problem in that he hasn’t kissed a female for years. We learn as the play progresses what caused this trauma in Lester’s life. The young woman’s mission is directed with the nun’s encouragement to get Lester over his phobia and become his wife.

The two-act drama play gets convoluted when a boyhood friend of Lester and his sister arrive in the second act. As the play progresses, we learn the Machiavellian reasons for the nun’s motivations.

“Pigeons,” was professionally produced at the “New World Theater” in Miami Beach a few years ago. It was also produced at several theaters in Baltimore/Annapolis as well as several dinner theaters.

Chatter – a romantic comedy script + a case of mistaken identity.

CHATTER – ROMANTIC COMEDY SCRIPT

When a couple, Albert and Aimee meet and fall in love in a chatroom, they get engaged and plan to get married.  It seems too good to be true. Only thing is… they haven’t actually met in real life. So when Albert flies out from the UK to meet his true love, and borrows his brother’s mobile phone, things take an hilarious turn when the wrong people end up meeting each other in this romantic comedy script!

Author: Anton Krueger

Characters: 4F, 2M

Type: One, 1 act

Genre: Romantic Comedy Script

Suitable for: All Ages

Set and difficulty: 7/10 Technically challenging. The play is accompanied by an animated backdrop which adds technological communication as another character. From the start, a chat-room text streaming across the back becomes “animated” in that the graphics embody and articulate emotion, tone and so on. At another
point, cell-phone calls zigzag across the space and SMS messages scoot through the ether; cartoonishly bouncing about the parameters of the stage before finding their destinations in
other phones. Occasionally these could even head out over the auditorium (if such a thing can be done) breaking through the fourth wall. Although it is not entirely impossible to imagine the play being performed without these technological elements, they may add an
element of spectacle to its delivery.

BOISE, USA – PLAY ABOUT HOMOPHOBIA

“Boise, USA,” is an historical drama based on the homosexuality scandal that took place in the fifties in Boise, Idaho and follows the lives of people both accused of homosexuality as well as those whose jobs it was to arrest and convict them. A play about homophobia, as it was 60 years ago, but just as relevant as it is today.

BACKGROUND

The Boise homosexuality scandal refers to a sweeping investigation of a supposed “homosexual underground” in Boise, Idaho that started in 1955. Beginning with the arrest of three men in October 1955, the investigation broadened to encompass allegations that over 100 young men and teenage boys had been involved in sexual acts with a ring of adult homosexual men. By the time the investigation wound down in January 1957, some 1,500 people had been questioned, sixteen men faced charges, and fifteen of them were sentenced to terms ranging from probation to life in prison.”
