THE LADIES GUILD ANNUAL PRE-CHRISTMAS PLANNING SESSION – COMEDY ABOUT WOMEN’S GROUPS

Without each other, they’re just reminded of how lonely they really are. Together, they’re exposed to how annoying they can be. In, The Ladies Guild Annual Pre-Christmas Planning Session, the ladies take pride in meeting up every year, to serve the charities of the world. Making actual money (in the form of donations) is the goal, of course but it’s also a great opportunity to come to terms with their losses. In one act, the dramedy also introduces us to Linda, who is new to the life of a widow but well-versed in the language of sisterhood because that’s what the Ladies Guild… really is in this comedy about women’s groups.

This play points a seasonal finger at the typical busybodies one always finds in places such as church groups, parents associations and other such societies. ‘Tis the season to be jolly! Or at least, to try.

WAITING FOR JOHN – DRAMA ABOUT A FAMILY TORN APART BY A SON’S DEATH

Fred has a son called John. He’s all grown up now, but still a good lad. Fred and John spend hours together, but what they like to do best is watch the stars, naming all the constellations. Today Fred is getting the tea ready for John and his wife, Edith. He likes to do this whilst he’s waiting for John. He should be home soon. Any minute now.
Edith had a son called John. He isn’t coming home, not ever again. Not since he got in that car. But she’ll wait as well, wait for her husband to come back to her. A drama about a family torn apart by a son’s death.

THE RETIREMENT OF THE WITCHES OF IPSWICH – BRITISH COMEDY PLAYS

Molly, Agnes and Moira have put their wands away as per the conditions of their retirement. They must abide by the rules set out by the Elder Wood Retirement Home for Witches, Wizards, Warlocks and Window Cleaners and duly enforced by the staff including the hard-headed Matron. Tricksters by nature, the ‘rules’ have hardly stopped the trio from engaging in some light fun at the expense of the other inhabitants of the Home – especially Bill (a retired window cleaner) – or the naïve staff in this British comedy.

In their old age, they see no reason to hang up their broomsticks and stop enjoying the adventurous side of life and soon enough they find themselves in a haunted and old theatre, looking for mischief. They encounter some less-than-scary ghosts who decide to get in on the fun of having the witches’ toy with the residents of Elder Wood… It really is all fun and games until the truth about window cleaners retiring in the same residences as witches, comes to light.

If the cauldron bubbles, it usually spells some trouble.

BENNY AND BORIS – TEN MINUTE POIGNANT COMEDY

A park bench on a summer day: this is where we find two old friends Benny & Boris, shooting the breeze over their weekly card game.  But today, the usual lighthearted shmoozing evolves into something deeper…

During their usual routine of playing cards and reading the obituaries, a deeply disturbing personal issue is revealed and Benny & Boris find their friendship put to the test.
Throughout this heartwarming, humorous one-act play, Benny & Boris discover that while the people closest to you sometimes let you down, family can be found in the most unexpected places.

THE GOLDEN YEARS – COMEDY SCRIPT FOR SENIORS

The ‘Golden Years,’ a short comedy script for seniors, captures a day in the life of the seniors at the local senior centre. From the regular Tuesday game of Euchre (or is it Pinochle?) to the complaints to management about the blocked toilet, the bus that was supposed to take them all to WalMart but hasn’t arrived yet, to the slightly hopeful older gentleman trying to get a date, and failing horribly, this short script, by a mature writer will amuse anyone who has been, is or knows anyone senior.

THE TEN MINUTE HAMLET – VERY FUNNY LARGE CAST COMEDY SCRIPT

Meet Miguel Hernandez. He is the protagonist of this funny large cast comedy script. When young Miguel is sentenced to community service at an old folks home he initially thinks he’s up for yet another colossal waste of his life. After a few minutes there, he learns very quickly that The Aurora Arms retirement home houses anything but waste. Aurora is the dwelling of a dynamic bunch of retirees who would rather spend their time spending it for goodness sake! They are not dead, yet!

Accepting that he won’t get away with murder, excuse the pun, Miguel realizes fast that it is not only he that needs some rehabilitating… and that’s where Hamlet saunters in. You see Hamlet is Miguel’s buddy, a heartrending figure in the young convict’s life, one who takes his time, is quite popular and inspires many with his reach. Hamlet is a play. And Miguel is going to direct this emotionally compelling and almost too influential
Shakespearean tragedy with the use of Aurora Arms retirement homes’ residents. Oh, and in ten minutes.

YOU’RE NEVER TOO OLD – THREE ACT COMEDY SCRIPT

In this witty three act comedy script, two aging brothers are reunited after a sixteen year old argument only to pick up on their sibling rivalry where it left off.

Seventy year old Max Stuart has sold the family business, an antique store in New York, and has moved to the Sunshine State with his wife of fifty-one years, Florence. Recovering from a heart attack has made Max feel old and useless, which has made him bitter and unforgiving.

As Florence tries to nurse him back to good health, Barney, Max’s fraternal twin brother, shows up sixteen million dollars richer, with a twenty-three year old bride and a business opportunity for Max.

Barney, who has always been able to talk Max into anything, convinces Max to run one of Barney’s video stores, which Barney has purchased with his millions. Max ends up humiliated when he gets talked into dressing up in a Donald Duck costume to promote some new Disney videos. This causes old hostilities to surface and the brothers are at each other again.

Barney’s problems escalate when Trixie, his bride, announces that she is pregnant. This sends Barney to the hospital in what appears to be a heart attack of his own.

Florence has been running interference throughout this whole episode and manages to get Max and Barney alone so they can work things out, once and for all. After more sibling rivalry, they both realize that brothers should be like best friends and that there is nothing more precious than family.

“You’re Never Too Old” recently received a very successful run at the Cultural Park Theater in Cape Coral, Florida.
