ROYALTIES AND PERFORMANCE LICENSES FOR OUR PLAYS

Licensing of Plays – All plays sold by Off The Wall Plays have had hours of work put into them by our dedicated playwrights, without whom any publisher would not exist. Thus, for a copy of a play sold, our playwrights get royalties of 50% of the value of the initial sale.  Our playwrights get 80% of the Royalties paid for every play that is performed. All plays published by Off The Wall Plays are available for performance.

Because you have purchased a play from us, you get a 50% discount on the Royalty fee for the first performance that you are staging, if you are staging multiple performances.  The sale of a play also gives you full filming rights per licensed performance. We request that Royalties are paid four weeks before the first performance in order to give us time to issue a performance license.

Any additional performances that a producer wishes to stage will require full royalties to be paid.  You do still have to pay Royalties even if you don’t charge for admission as legally a production must be licensed if it is witnessed by the general public, regardless of whether or not a charge is being made to them.

Plays bought by schools or universities for educational exercises do not need to pay Royalties, but those bought for school productions do, even if only family and friends attend.  Amateur theatre companies can expect to pay far less than professional companies as we understand the financial restrictions faced by amateur theatre companies.

PLEASE NOTE: PERFORMANCE LICENSE/ROYALTY FEES QUOTED BELOW ARE QUOTED ON THE BASIS THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED YOUR SCRIPT. YOU WILL NEED TO PURCHASE THE SCRIPT INDEPENDENTLY WHEN APPLYING FOR ROYALTIES.

To stage a play, for plays with casts of 4 or less, 1 digital script can be shared between cast members, For plays with more than 4 characters, 1 addtional script should be purchased for each 4 characters as a minimum.
