TWO MANY WITNESSES – A COURTROOM DRAMA SCRIPT IN ONE ACT

In this courtroom drama script,  Bernard Wells is dissatisfied with his life as Bistro owner, especially when a school friend of his, Alex Pole, decides to expand his café across the road into a restaurant. Wells asks if he could be his partner in this venture, but Pole tells him he has Frank Horner, a beverage supplier and a friend of his as a partner.

Wells decides to get rid of the opposition. He discovers his cousin’s (Arthur Wells) passport in his flat, where Arthur had mislaid it on his last visit. After witnessing a drunken argument between Horner and Pole, where Horner threatens Pole, Wells sees his chance.

Disguised as his cousin, he pays Alex Pole a visit and kills him; he arranges beforehand that Frank Horner is away at this time, delivering goods to a fictitious customer.

At the enquiry in this courtroom drama script, Bernard disguises himself as his cousin Arthur.  He bears false witness saying he saw Frank Horner leave the scene of the crime carrying the murder weapon. As Bernard Wells, he tells the court of enquiry that he saw Pole and Horner arguing inside Pole’s shop shortly before Pole was killed, therefore giving himself an alibi.

When Horner is arrested for the murder, he protests  his innocence.  To all intents and purposes, the case against him seems watertight, until a surprise witness appears…

Aldous Remembers – Romantic drama Plays

Aldous Bentley has a problem: he is prone to dangerous sleep walking and forgetfulness. His memory often eludes him; he can’t remember his wedding day, or precious moments he’s accumulated in his life. Now, after one year of marriage to his beloved wife Wanda, he often fails to remember anything that involves their time together.

One night during a small gathering at the home of their longtime friend’s Vance and Lisa Shante’ Aldous confesses to Vance in the kitchen that because of his inability to remember significant moments with Wanda, he feels he may not be in love with her, and that she is the wrong woman.

Meanwhile in the living room Wanda confides in Lisa that she too is not sure she married the right man, and that his fleeting memory and odd sleep walking has smothered the fiery passion she once had for Aldous. With lost memories from Aldous and growing frustration from Wanda, will the Bentley’s love survive this early test in their marriage?

Lovers of fine wine, the Shante’s and Bentley’s soon discover the complications involved in matrimony. Only time and the partaking of fine libations bought from their meeting place of Ithaca, New York, a place for which both couples share fond memories, will tell in this touching drama as each come upon revelations in their marriages.

Aldous remembers, a drama layered with humor and honesty examines the connection of love and memories, and how we deal with the potential realities of losing people we cherish in our lives and the moments we spend with them.

Pigeons – a two-act drama about a potential millionaire

two-act drama play script

PIGEONS – A TWO-ACT DRAMA PLAY

“Pigeons” is a two-act drama about a man named Lester, in his thirties, who is about to inherit a fortune left to him by his dead grandmother on the condition  that he is married before he is thirty five years old. Unfortunately, Lester is a recluse who dropped out of high school in his senior year after failing a course in English. He is completely obsessed with breeding a champion homing pigeon. He spends the better part of his days on the roof of his Philadelphia home with his pigeons.  Lester is supported by his sister, Sistine, a Catholic nun who supports him by bringing food everyday as otherwise he just wouldn’t cope.
Sistine decides to take the matter of Lester being married into her own hands. She brings home a single young woman who works as a clerk at the convent.

Lester has a problem in that he hasn’t kissed a female for years. We learn as the play progresses what caused this trauma in Lester’s life. The young woman’s mission is directed with the nun’s encouragement to get Lester over his phobia and become his wife.

The two-act drama play gets convoluted when a boyhood friend of Lester and his sister arrive in the second act. As the play progresses, we learn the Machiavellian reasons for the nun’s motivations.

“Pigeons,” was professionally produced at the “New World Theater” in Miami Beach a few years ago. It was also produced at several theaters in Baltimore/Annapolis as well as several dinner theaters.

TWENTY FIRST CENTURY STOMP – A RAP DRAMA IN 2 ACTS

A rap drama in two acts, based on the lives of two couples whose lives have been affected by the crash in the economy taking place all over the world and continuing into the present day. These people, David, Joan, Harry and Sara all had good jobs and great lives and lost them suddenly one day when the economy crashed.
Forced to look at their harsh situations, they draw on the memories and the experiences of their lives and those of their families and friends past and present in order to be able to take ‘the next step’ in life, whatever the consequences.

This play is ideal for an arts festival, especially the fringe section of an arts festival as it requires a minimal set and can thus be put on anywhere. It’s message will hold true for many communities who have been hit by the crash in the world’s economy.

The Pump Room – a Drama set in Post Apartheid South Africa

buy a drama online

Force creates pressure and pressure creates counter- pressure. The result? A blowout.

The Pump Room is a drama about the intersection of the criminal and political worlds, the sexual and the ideological. It is a play about the South African reality of the late 1990s, but one which applies to many other societies that have experienced epochs in their history when, after a long period of oppression, a new period struggles to resolve the past and deal with fresh challenges.

The central event that drives the play is the murder of a ‘postman’ carrying drugs. Over several hours on a hot summer’s night, the consequences of this action cause a number of inter-connected people to meet in the pump room of a public swimming pool in Cape Town. These disparate characters play out the tensions and contradictions of their pasts and presents, and a complex web of relationships emerges.

It has been performed at the Windybrow Theatre in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2010 and the the Theatre in the District in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2011.
