BREAKDOWN POINT – A VERY PSYCHIC COMEDY

Breakdown Point, in the middle of nowhere is a renowned dead spot for anything mechanical/technological. Today Ruth, a wild-haired, hobbling woman in a flowery dress (who also is a conduit for all spirits, vibrations and psychic energies) is expecting a few people to break down and thus be ready for everything she plans to show them. Adolf and Stella, a bickering couple arrive at the Point are the first to arrive, their tandem immobilised by a puncture and a broken chain, both blaming the other for their predicament in this psychic comedy.

This is followed by the sound of a car breaking down off, out of which gets Fee, a chaperone trying to get her two charges to a ‘Disorders & Syndromes Conference’: Bernice has Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Terry has Tourette’s Syndrome. Bernice hates lack of order and is obsessed with things being locked whilst Terry has been hotwired to say types of fruit and veg when he is ticcing, blinking, humming, sniffing etc.

Before long the five visitors are at Ruth’s mercy as she ensures them ‘they never had a chance’ from the minute they started climbing the hill and that they should face up to the things in their lives whilst there, to try – with her facilitation – to repair the mental/spiritual breakdowns they are experiencing.
Then there’s a flash of lightning and everything goes dark…
