Description
STUMPS – FEMALE DRIVEN DRAMATIC PLAY
This female driven dramatic play considers how we hurt those closest to us, especially when our good intentions get in the way of truly seeing each other.
One is brash, strong-willed, righteous and proud. Two is quiet, small, and is looking for connections in the wrong places. Both are young queer women charting the beginning of their course through life’s love lessons. Through a series of vignettes we journey with both these young women through falling in love, dealing with pain, deception and family. The poetic language leaves a lot open for dramatic interpretation and setting.
Written during the pandemic – this play lends itself to a virtual and physical performance space. The issues of love, sexuality and trauma can especially be powerful for a younger audience.
“Stumps” is a series of vignettes about the way people try to change those closest to them, even with the best intentions. One and Two are queer women who begin their relationship on a foundation of similar experiences, but find that they absorbed their trauma in conflicting ways, leading to conflict in their relationship.
