CYBORG WITN ROSIE – A SCIENCE FICTION COMEDY

Rosie is a middle-aged recluse who was a cybernetics wunderkind but who retreated from public life to work on experiments within the lab in her house, only helped by her servant, Queenie. Her self-imposed exile wasn’t helped some time ago when there was an attempted burglary at the house, the result of which was her turning her house into a fortress. The play is set on the day she has been persuaded by a young entrepreneur, Elle to give an interview for her  magazine, who arrives with  a photographer, Stu.

However, one of Rosie’s ‘failed experiments’ – Proto – is present. He is a dogman and was an attempt by Rosie some time ago to ‘transform’ a human cybernetically in to a dog, but is now more human than dog.  He, however, has found out that Rosie gave birth to a daughter (Louise) over 20 years ago which she gave up for adoption, and he believes that he is the father.  Proto, aka ‘Ken’ made contact with Louise and he is certain that the ‘interview’ ruse has been set up by her to get into the house so that he and Louise can meet for the first time and he can finally reveal to Rosie that he knows.

So, when Elle, Stu and Louise all turn up, who is really who and is there an ulterior motive behind their plans in coming to the fortress that day?
