Description
LORD WATCHOUT! COMIC FANTASY SCRIPT SET IN WALES
A very very Welsh tale which takes place a Loooooooooooong time ago (with a capital L and 14 o’s). Complete with a Narrator Who Knows Everything; an incredibly bold, brave, and definitely not at all stupid Hero; an assorted cast of peasants and townspeople who may or may not be played by the same person; and a badger (definitely only played by one toy badger).
Lord Pwyll (lovingly – and not-so-lovingly – known as Lord Watchout) has a tendency to rush into things without thinking. This isn’t great when you live in Ancient Wales and there are all sorts of ogres and beasts and mysterious maidens just waiting to kill you, curse you, or…. marry you in this comic fantasy script? When Lord Watchout accepts a marriage proposal from one of the latter, he gets a heck of a lot more than he bargained for. We did try to warn him.
Full of family-friendly comedy, fourth-wall-breaking, and audience interaction, Lord Watchout is available to be performed both with a full cast of 14+ actors, or as a solo show with one very brave (and definitely not at all stupid) actor taking on every single part, to much hilarity.
Lord Watchout is a comical and irreverent retelling of an ancient Welsh legend, as found in the 13th century ‘Mabinogion’ and previously told by the Welsh bards (although I think they’d be flabbergasted by this version).
