Description
MEMORY JUNK, A PICTURE OF THE FUTURE, POST COVID – SCIENCE FICTION DRAMA
In this funny and tender short one-act play by Neil Sharman, we are offered a look at how technology and Covid-19 has impacted a middle- aged couple. They have settled in their London home and stuck it out through the years. Their increased proximity, and the unrelenting demands for keeping up with technology is taking its toll. In a world that didn’t quite go back to normal post-Covid everyone is still separated and a digital handshake is all anyone is willing to risk. However, a proposition from a friend in big tech has them both thinking about the past, and the parts they may want to keep…and what parts of themselves they might delete. Permanently. Or even sell….. A science fiction drama with a ‘Black Mirror’ feel.
Memory Junk was written for Greenwich Theatre’s short play writing competition, during lockdown. It was the first winning play selected and they produced a reading of it. It can be viewed here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScWrPzW5wQA
