Description
FIRST IMPRESSIONS – PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, REVISITED
Following the romance of Elizabeth and Darcy and their subsequent marriage, we meet them again a few years down the line on an eventful carriage ride. It becomes immediately apparent that the honeymoon bliss is over. Darcy has lied about the trip they are taking and he doesn’t care, because Elizabeth left his socks behind, a fact which he repeatedly brings into the conversation. Elizabeth maintains her innocence in the matter, or rather states that she is not and never will be the keeper of his socks in the version of Pride and Prejudice, revisited.
When their carriage becomes stuck in the mud and neither the helpful driver nor Darcy can get it out, leaving Darcy covered in mud with a strained back and their poor driver with a number of broken toes and beset by bees, it falls to Elizabeth to save the day.

Type: One Act Play
Genre: Comedy, Pride and Prejudice, revisited
Cast: 2M 1F
Ages of the actors: Thirty up. Driver can be any adult age
Length: Forty five minutes
Suitable for: All ages to watch and teens up to perform
Set: The set concept is interesting. The couple is meant to be travelling in a carriage, which gets stuck in mud and they have to get it out. The set can be at the director’s discretion, anywhere from an actual semblence of a carriage to a black box set. In fact it may be more funny if a black box set or a few chairs are used as then many of the actions have to be mimed.
Level of difficulty: 7/10 – 8/10 – getting the biting comedy right as well as the miming of actions to get the carriage out of a black box set is used.
Please note: The English used is not stereotypical of the period – many modern colloqialisms are written into the script.
