Description
PLAIN AS JANE – OLD MEETS NEW COMEDY SCRIPT ABOUT JANE AUSTEN
In this new play by Leon Kaye, Jane Austen jumps off the page – literally! The famous writer is brought to life by an aspiring romance writer, Brie, who wants nothing more than to create a love story as complex and long standing as the ones created by Austen. And what better way to learn than straight from the woman herself? An old meets new comedy script about Jane Austen.
Brie confronts her relationship with her father and his expectations of her, as well as a potential love interest in the form of her father’s employee Adam. However, all good stories have their twists and turns – another man enters the picture, trouble is stirred up between Brie and her friend Dana, and Brie must make a choice. Will she continue to follow her idol’s advice and live her life for herself, or will she succumb to the pressures of her family and society at large?
As ever, it is a truth universally acknowledged that a woman in possession of a dream must make a choice.
