Description
COLD WAR – SHORT DRAMA ABOUT DOMESTIC WAR
It’s a run down kitchen in a double wide trailer in Topeka, Kansas, that Marti, her partner Dan and Marti’s young son call home. When two federal agents arrive at their front door, hot on the trail of a fake check scam, Marti sees a chance to get rid of Dan, her aggressive, controlling partner for good in this short drama about domestic war.
The war on drugs and fraud was constant in the 1990s, and Topeka, Kansas saw its share of battles. War isn’t only fought in far away lands by soldiers. It can be as close to home as your very own trailer and your very own family that you’d do anything to protect. The play portrays the reality of two simultaneous wars fought by people:
The war on poverty – where ordinary folks will do anything to survive; even something a little illegal.
Then there’s the war on drugs and counterfeiting, as the government desperately tries to control illegal activities perpretated by those people who sometimes have very little choice in the matter.
