Playground – Satire about Modern Politics

$5.50

This play, set in a school, focuses on two boys who start off as friends, but as they grow older, their friendship becomes competetive and the two boys end up both standing for class president in a show down that sees the school split down the middle in support of the two.

It gets dirty –  with their teacher, Katie acting more like a referree than a teacher. In the end the two boys are put in a room and are forced to make friends. Despite the fact that they are now friends, this doesn’t sit well with their supporters who are still in two opposing camps. It gets bloody, with the students running full riot in the school.

This satirical play, seemingly for children at first, could easily be seen as a euphamism of modern politics, with two candidates fighting it out, getting dirty and even when they make friends, their so called supporters refusing to allow it. A play that says in no uncertain terms, that even the greatest politicians(and their supporters) behave like children and engage in pissing contents.
