Family Play – British Dramedy Script about Growing up in a Dysfunctional Family

$5.50

A script about growing up in a dysnfunctional family that isn’t at all traditional!
Meet Alice. She’s eight years old, quite wise for her age and has a dry sense of humour. She’s the mistake her mum made when she was thirteen years old, but she’s okay about it. She’s also the most sane member of her family.

Meet Charlotte. She’s Alice’s mum. She had Alice when she was fourteen and didn’t quite make it through A Levels. She got a job working at the local supermarket but really struggles to make ends meet. She’s been dating Dylan for three years and they’re living together because he’s a bit nicer than the guys she dated before him. She wishes Dylan would get a job.

Meet Dylan. He’s twenty and lives on the dole. He’s tried to get jobs but none of them seem to work out. He’s had ever so many. Maybe he’s just not meant to work. He thinks this is because he doesn’t like being told what to do. He wants to marry Charlotte and settle down with her and have the picture perfect family.

Meet Caroline. She’s fragile and middle class, and has loads of issues, mostly to do with men. She’s never been on her own, so Charlotte kindly took her in. She thinks Dylan isn’t good enough for Charlotte, but who else is there?

These three people don’t know it but they are Alice’s family. A little unconventional, but there you have it. So when the family breaks apart…
