WOTCHA! GOTCHA! STEAM PUNK FUNNY PANTOMIME

In this zany but extremely funny steam punk pantomime script, loosely based on Alice in Wonderland, Alice Liddell is kidnapped by the villains Mad Hat and Moriarty and taken through the looking glass to an alternate universe and imprisoned in their Dirigible because they want to take over her world and they have a cunning plan to get their way.

Her friends Dodgson and Prince Leopold enlist the help of the slightly less famous Shamrock Holmes and his sidekick, James Watson to get her back to their side of the looking glass. Together with the Dame and the Baker Street Irregulars, they set out to rescue her and save their world from imminent disaster.

They win, of course!

short play for youth theatre

The Blueberry Balladeer visits the farmers in Washington
County every year, and she sings a lullaby to put all the
berry blights and pests to sleep until it’s harvest time. But
one year, an ancient pestilence known as the Willisoggle
gives the Balladeer a cold, so she can’t sing. The farmers,
the families and an assortment of characters — from a beauty
queen to a beekeeper to a pair of Bavarian gnomes — have to
band together to figure out how to defeat the Willisoggle
before it eats the entire blueberry harvest!

This fast paced retelling of the classic Alice in Wonderland is updated to modern times and set in a football stadium, where the Riverdale Rabbits are facing their rivals, the Duncan Dormice.

Alice, cheerleader for the Riverdale Rabbits, falls from the top of the pyramid and finds herself lost in the stadium desperately seeking Tod (the star quarterback) her ‘true love’. Along the way she encounters a strange group of characters; a coach who can’t control his players, a band leader whose band plays animals as musical instrument, the water boy who only serves water at his tea party, the referees who can’t decide what penalty to call, and the Cheshire Brand Hot Dog vendor who gives her cryptic and confusing clues. As Alice finds what she searches for, she realizes that she was chasing after the wrong things the whole time.

Alice in Football was performed at the Parkside Playhouse, Vicksburg, MS, June 24-26, 2010.
