WHO’S THERE? A SHORT PLAY ABOUT DEMENTIA

When Jessie makes a surprise visit to see her mother, Helen, she is very alarmed. Helen is definitely not her usual self. The house is covered in dust, she has let the cleaning lady go, as too many things had gone ‘missing’ and her mind seems to be wandering. Jessie had intended to visit her mother one last time before flying to Paris where she had been offered her dream job, in the same company her brother used to work for a few years ago. Alarmed, she calls her brother for help. But, it seems his wife, in the final stages of her pregnancy and confined to bed rest, cannot be left alone and so it falls to Jessie to look after her mother. The only thing she can think of is turning down that dream job to look after her mother. But is there something else going on? A short play about dementia.
