$5.50

In the midst of a torrential storm, five strangers are, quite literally, stuck on the edge of a downed bridge above a raging river. As they wait for emergency services to arrive, Michael, and Daphe both agree that that the disaster is the result of climate change. They are approached by Raj, a kind-hearted older man, and Stephen, an unconventional yet flashy drama professor caught up in the exciting theatrics of the unfolding events in this drama about climate change.

When Mungo, an older business man  arrives, he thanklessly denies Raj’s offerings of food and drink, stating that he doesn’t need anyone else and he will forget them all as soon as they are rescued.  As the hours pass, we learn that Michael and Mungo are not strangers at all. As it turns out, Mungo fathered a son by Michael’s wife, and Michael is in the process of adopting him.

THE EDGE – A DRAMA ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE

In the midst of a torrential storm, five strangers are, quite literally, stuck on the edge of a downed bridge above a raging river. As they wait for emergency services to arrive Michael and Daphe both agree that that the disaster is the result of climate change.

He’s quite flattering towards Daphne, though, in fact too flattering, offering her a position in the UK’s most prestigious law firm.  Daphne, though, has the sense to turn down his advances.  But does Mungo have another dark secret up his sleeve?  As tensions build they realise who Mungo really is and they turn on him. He leaves the group but returns quickly followed by an angry youth. The two argue, it gets physical and horrifyingly, the youth slips and falls off the edge into the torrent below.

Much as Mungo represents the selfish and wealth-obsessed businessmen who caused climate change to happen in the first place, the collaboration of the other characters is the representation of what must happen to make things right again.
