MERMAN ON THE BRINK – DARK COMEDY ABOUT A MENTAL BREAKDOWN
Pete has reached the end of his tether and is frantically paddling in a small boat away from shore. His life isn’t going the way he wanted. People at work have stolen his ideas, his girlfriend has left him and he feels that there is nothing else for him. At least this escape from the world is going to plan. That is, until an actual Merman accosts him in the middle of the water to point out to him that as he is not on the ocean, but actually in the middle of small man made lake, his chances of escape are probably going as well as the rest of his life. At first, Pete believes that he’s hallucinating, most likely due to the prescription medication he is on. But as the Merman starts to offer him a life that’s different from his own, a better life under the waves, and all the gold and mermaids he would like, Pete starts to believe that the Merman is real and bent on killing him by luring him under the waves. In the end, Pete must face a final battle to save himself. Whether you think the battle is real or imaginary, is up to you. A dark comedy about a mental breakdown.
