Art is a subjective creature. One gallery patron sees a monochromatic masterpiece; another sees nothing more than red paint… Back and forth goes the dialogue like a piping hot potato, keeping our attention for the full 75 minutes… It’s a hoot, but perhaps it’s because we catch a glimpse of ourselves in each couple that Red Wine & Canvas resonates so strongly.

YVETTE – PERIOD DRAMA ROMANCE SCRIPT

Yvette is eighteen, and she is a mystery. Nobody can make out whether she is a charming youngster or a wretched jade. She belongs through her mother, a high-class courtesan, as well as through her manners and her customs, to the vortex of the most rapid life of 19th-century Paris. Yet, she lives in that atmosphere of infamy with a calm and triumphing ease as if she suspects absolutely nothing of her mother’s profession, which is either wonderfully profligate or entirely artless. She allures and excites men and at the same time acts like an impeccable virgin. If she is not the most complete monster of astuteness and perversity, she certainly is the most marvelous phenomenon of innocence that can be imagined. Only, this young lady belongs neither to society, nor to the tradesmen’s class, nor to the common people, and she can never enter any of these ranks by marriage. She has only one possible career, a life of pleasure, and she cannot escape her fate.

UNCOVERED – ROMANTIC DRAMA SCRIPT

A man and woman have been living together in a small Chicago apartment. She has been working to pay the bills while he works on a novel, but he’s developed writer’s block, and it’s been eating away at his confidence, and lessening her attraction to him. The rift has gotten to the point where she’s been spending most of her time at a friend’s place.
He goes to see her at work and watches her in a different light as she floats around her restaurant interacting with the customers. Then they go out for drinks, and their passion is rekindling.

We hear them as they ascend the stairs to their apartment, bumping against the walls as they release from each other’s embrace long enough to unlock the door.

Inside we watch as they work out their relationship, one that began with a mutual love of books, one helped to be put back together – and almost taken further apart – by the books in their life.

TWO CATS, NO DOGS! TEN MINUTE ROMANTIC PLAYS

In this award winning romantic comedy script, a man and a woman find themselves at an art gallery, viewing a red (very red) painting. They get chatting to each other and, superimposed on their ‘chit chat’ are their thoughts – that they really and truly like each other and wish that the other would like them back. Their personal thoughts also intrude on what they’re trying to say to each other which leads to the sort of stuttering that happens when people are trying to impress each other. A lovely, funny two-hander script for one man and one woman of any age.

It’s the summer of 1977 in Chicago, USA.  Renata, who works at the local bar, coerces one of the regulars, Nicky into taking Danny, a disabled kid who works at the local bar as well and who is a die hard Elvis fan, to Graceland to meet the King himself. The play follows their journey from Chicago down to Graceland and their subsequent discovery that Elvis has recently passed away before Danny could meet him. They find that, although they did not get to meet The King, they have learned a lot more about themselves and each other along the way.

Aldous Remembers – Romantic drama Plays

Aldous Bentley has a problem: he is prone to dangerous sleep walking and forgetfulness. His memory often eludes him; he can’t remember his wedding day, or precious moments he’s accumulated in his life. Now, after one year of marriage to his beloved wife Wanda, he often fails to remember anything that involves their time together.

One night during a small gathering at the home of their longtime friend’s Vance and Lisa Shante’ Aldous confesses to Vance in the kitchen that because of his inability to remember significant moments with Wanda, he feels he may not be in love with her, and that she is the wrong woman.

Meanwhile in the living room Wanda confides in Lisa that she too is not sure she married the right man, and that his fleeting memory and odd sleep walking has smothered the fiery passion she once had for Aldous. With lost memories from Aldous and growing frustration from Wanda, will the Bentley’s love survive this early test in their marriage?

Lovers of fine wine, the Shante’s and Bentley’s soon discover the complications involved in matrimony. Only time and the partaking of fine libations bought from their meeting place of Ithaca, New York, a place for which both couples share fond memories, will tell in this touching drama as each come upon revelations in their marriages.

Aldous remembers, a drama layered with humor and honesty examines the connection of love and memories, and how we deal with the potential realities of losing people we cherish in our lives and the moments we spend with them.

THE LOVE OF CHEESECAKE – COMEDY AND ONE ACT PLAY FOR ADULTS

In this one act play for adults, Molly, a slightly tubby housewife is rather desperate because she feels that the spark has gone out of her marriage to the very predictable Arthur and she doesn’t know what to do about it. She feels that her relationship has become loveless and all the frustration she has built up comes pouring out. She ends up pouring her soul out to her best friend and neighbour, Fran.  Fran comes up with an idea to help Molly and Arthur out and reignite the flame and passion in Molly and Arthur’s staid relationship.  She sends her to a therapist who sets them tasks for each other. This includes everything from body food (which goes well) to a stripper pole (which doesn’t) ending with side splitting consequences in this hilarious adult comedy.
