FORGOTTEN – TWO ACT FANTASY PLAY FOR HIGH SCHOOL – what happened after Neverland?

Gwendolyn is a young schoolgirl plagued by recurring dreams of an imaginary place and time, not of this earth. Despite her best efforts to control her dreams, they are becoming more real and frequent than ever. But when she wakes up, she cannot remember anything at all, other than a fear of falling. When she sleepwalks and almost falls to her death, her school decide to send her home again. Once home she is sent to a specialist doctor for treatment to try to cure of of her mysterious illness that is causing her nightmares.

fantasy play for high school

But it seems that the imaginary place is very real indeed. Gwendolyn is “Wendy” and she dreams of a very real Neverland. Peter Pan has left Neverland to try and find her, risking the lives of all the people who live there, including the infamous Captain Hook. For Neverland cannot survive without Peter Pan. Hook, desperate to save Neverland, and of course himself, has followed Peter back to our world to find Wendy and to make her forget once and for all.

“Forgotten” is an exploration of J.M. Barrie’s classic children’s story, “Peter Pan” and poses the question of whether it was simply a story, a figment of Wendy’s imagination or a real place. In the 21st century we are accustomed to the concepts of time travel and alternate universes. This fantasy play for high school cleverly switches between, so to speak, the alternate Earths in the story.

A fun play that mixes pirates and adventure with 1906 England. I thoroughly recommend it! Altaire Gural, the playwright, is a member of the playwright’s guild of Canada. Read about author Altaire Gural

WOTCHA! GOTCHA! STEAM PUNK FUNNY PANTOMIME

In this zany but extremely funny steam punk pantomime script, loosely based on Alice in Wonderland, Alice Liddell is kidnapped by the villains Mad Hat and Moriarty and taken through the looking glass to an alternate universe and imprisoned in their Dirigible because they want to take over her world and they have a cunning plan to get their way.

Her friends Dodgson and Prince Leopold enlist the help of the slightly less famous Shamrock Holmes and his sidekick, James Watson to get her back to their side of the looking glass. Together with the Dame and the Baker Street Irregulars, they set out to rescue her and save their world from imminent disaster.

They win, of course!

IRON WILLED – WORLD WAR 2 MOVIE SCRIPT

In the close of and post Second World War, idealist Natalia struggles against totalitarianism working against both the Nazi and the Communist East German governments. Dismissed from her job as a schoolteacher she eventually finds semi-skilled work as a seamstress and her need to keep her house and shortages of basic commodities leads her into a life of crime until she is no better than the system. An old colleague from the anti-Nazi days gives her opportunity to; at least, partially redeem herself, both in her own eyes and that of the state. She may not love Big Brother but has learned to accept him as the lesser of two evils. Or is Big Brother the prime cause of the evil? With clever use of symbols, this screenplay will generate much discussion after viewing.

THE GOLD MEDALLION – THREE ACT PLAY FOR YOUNG CAST

Orphaned and wrongfully convicted of murder, James Fenton is determined to follow his ambition to join Captain James Cook’s crew aboard the Resolution, but his predicament forces him to stowaway!

However, all is not resolved as he becomes an accidental crew member of Cap’n Scargill’s tub, the Revolution, soon to become commandeered by Silas Tench, a villainous devil if there ever was one, Shiner his partner in piracy and a mutinous crew which lusts for gold!

The Gold Medallion, stolen by Silas Tench and his shipmate Shiner from Fenton’s Chandlery, is the key to the booty known as Fenton’s Gold, buried on San Angelo Island in the dangerous waters of the Caribbean.

There are many delightful characters in this adventure with plenty of scope for imaginative staging. The seafaring times of the late 1700’s must be captured by the costuming and overall flavour of the era.
