THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE ALBATROSS – PLAY BASED ON A STORY BY EDGAR ALLAN POE

In this play based on a story by Edgar Allan Poe, the Voyage of the Albatross follows the fateful voyage of a ship hit by a storm so severe that it almost seems supernatural. When only three people survive the storm, they believe that their troubles are over. But the ship was never destined to have any survivors…

Desperate for someone to hear what happened to them, Sara, one of the survivors writes a message and places it in a bottle, casting it overboard before she meets her destiny. She can only hope that it will be found by someone and her story told.

SAY WHAT? ONE ACT ADULT COMEDY ABOUT DATING

Emm’s recovering from the shock of kicking her boyfriend out after finding a thong (not hers and no meant for her) in his bag. The evil, evil evil bastard was cheating on her, he’s gone and she has resorted to comfort food to get her through.  Luckily (or for better, or worse) for her she has the two sides of her brain to get her through this breakup in this adult comedy about dating.

Sarah is the logical side. She thinks it’s about time Emm stopped eating all that ice cream (it makes her fart) and get out there and meet a real man. (And if he’s looking to plough her fields, even better!) Bella is the emotional one. In her opinion, the Ex (Evil, Evil, Evil) deserved that microwave that was thrown at his head. Pity it missed.  Together they’re Sarah-Bella-Emm.

And tonight, Emm’s going on a date. And her brain is going to make sure she’s prepared for every (and I mean every) eventuality.

On the island, they meet a group of scary zombies, but there is something familiar about them in this short comedy script set on board a ship.

SOCK HOPS, RECORDERS AND OWL PELLETS: TIPS ON SURVIVING THE 4TH GRADE – CHILDREN’S COMEDY SCRIPT

You know what? Adults are always saying how hard life is with jobs and kids and shopping and cooking and cleaning. But do you know how hard it is to be me? To be a 4th grader? I have tons of responsibilities. I have homework. I have to play the recorder in music class. I have to learn about the body. I have to manage 4 different girlfriends! Wait what day is it today? Tuesday…I have to manage 3 different girlfriends! Oh no…I have a spelling test today.
Poop! Anyway, you get the point. Us 4th graders are much busier than adults!

Tyler is a 4th grader struggling with all your typical 4th grade problems: homework, spelling tests, and of course – girls. From gym class, to music class, and everything in between, Tyler and his friends share their essential tips on surviving 4th grade in this children’s comedy script.

PRODUCTION NOTE: The play has been staged using older teen actors. Part of the charm and humour about the production was that the older actors were playing younger kids. As it is a wordy piece it would also suit teenagers.

Zoey and Annette could not be more different. That Zoey is from the wrong side of the tracks is pretty obvious. Annette is an immaculately dressed, high powered business woman with one flaw, her fiance.

When the two of them are put on a flight together, they could not be less pleased with their flight companion. But as the flight progresses, they learn that they have more in common than they thought, teaming up to sort out Annette’s fiance issues, dealing with Zoey’s horrible air sickness and and becoming the best of friends in this one act comedy for 3 female actors.

Level of difficulty: 7/10 – static seating. The two mains are seated the whole play so a bit of creativity will need to be used to prevent the play becoming static.

IRISH JACK – FAMILY COMEDY-DRAMA SCRIPT ABOUT MARRYING OUTSIDE YOUR CULTURE

It was an evening like any other in the Goldberg household as Papa, Momma, Gram, and the children, Joe and Miriam, settled down to eat their supper. Papa was his usual content self, Momma cooked an
outstanding meal as always, Gram was as curious and as talkative as ever and the kids were taunting each other as per the norm. Then Joe got up from the table, a few seconds after he had just sat down.
He told Papa he was going to quickly grab some cigarettes. He told Momma he would be right back.

He never returned. Three years later his family discovers that he is alive, well and performing as an Irish comedian. Joe Goldberg (Jewish Joseph Goldberg) is posing as an Irishman. They cannot believe it.

In this drama, with but seven scenes, the Goldberg’s must come to terms with the loss of their child who is far from dead, the acceptance of things foreign to them but a part of his identity and a new meaning to the word
family.

This is Irish Jack O’ Reilly; lost but not wandering in this family comedy – drama script.
