SINGLES FOREVER – AFRICAN COMEDY SCRIPT ABOUT MARRIAGE

A wedding is nothing but the union of two people: body and spirit. For Omotola, the fiancée of Kantanka, she wants his bank account, his time, his independence… Simply put: all that he owns he believes should remain his own, regardless of him being married. The boys agree that Kantanka should continue to be true to himself, in fact, they can hardly believe he’s defied their rule of brotherhood, to get married. In Singles Forever, an African comedy script, the time before a soon-to-be-bride and soon-to-be-husband get married, is put into focus and is as raw as ever. This comedy with three acts, shows us what happens when a firecracker (Omotola) partners with an aging lion (Kantanka) and if the forces around them (the boys, a lawyer, an ex-girlfriend family, etc.) can influence them enough to change their minds. You do know marriage is for ‘good,’ right?

Although written for an African cast, this play has international appeal and could easily be performed in any country.

BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY – TEN MINUTE COMEDY FOR 3 ACTORS

Jack still thinks he’s dating Lorrie. Lorrie thinks he isn’t as she clearly dumped him last week. So when Jack pitches up at her house with candy (which she hates to be honest) it couldn’t have come at a more inconvenient moment. The truth is that she’s getting ready for her hot date with Melvin, the local hottie in this ten minute comedy for three actors.

Jack decides to let both Lorrie and Melvin know, once and for all, that she’s his girl. He answers the door with all the bravado in the world and then make a quick about turn as he realizes Melvin is the biggest man he has ever met. It’s clear he won’t be able to fight him for her. So he comes up with a new tactic. A deadly disease. Genetic – and Lorrie is a sufferer.

But will Melvin buy this crock of cow poo?

How does a bit of gossip sound? Meet Barry. Barry sees Carrie, spills wine on her and is immediately struck by Cupid’s arrow. Barry proceeds to have Sally, his assistant, deliver a message to Carrie, with a date proposition. Carrie is only convinced by her assistant, Larry, who charmingly seconds Sally’s notion that Carrie has nothing to lose from a night of free dinner and wine, with Barry in this one act period romantic comedy. Carrie agrees to the date. But Carrie has Harry (he does business in America) and let us not forget Hallie, also thrown into the mix for some odd reason. Hallie is a wedding planner, she may or may not be vital to this comedy and she’s an American (interestingly enough). Barry, Carrie, Sally, Larry, Harry and Hallie are all pleased to be a part of London’s finest and The Chase. They bring the ‘50’s to life in a case of the best and worst of times!

First comes love, but just before marriage, here comes dear arrogant, toe-raggedy, uncivilised, clumsy Barry in a weird yet charming carriage!
