ANOTHER ANANSI – CHILDREN’S PLAY SCRIPT BASED ON A TRADITIONAL FOLK TALE

Anansi is a naughty spider. He’s also quite lazy and a trickster, preferring to trick the other animals out of their hard earned food than do the work to find his own food himself in this children’s play script.

He thinks he’s quite clever when, in the same day, he cons goat, lion, warthog and bear out of their food and settles down for a nice meal. But unbeknownst to him, the four of them have figured out what he did and together with turkey, (the brains of the outfit) they set out to con him right back!

Anansi is a traditional character that appears in both West African and Jamaican folk tales. Another Anansi and Other Animal Tales was written for a summer theater group of young actors to have fun with.

North Fork – drama script about brothers loving the same girl

It’s summer on the East End of Long Island, a magical time for everyone, especially the young.  Joe and David are local boys, born and raised in Laurel. Even though New York City is only 90 miles away they have only been there a couple of times, to the zoo or a baseball game. Summers for teenagers on the North Fork are spent on the beach, in the water, hanging out with friends and making new friends with the summer rental “city folk” in this script about brothers loving the same girl.

This summer David and Joe have  fallen in love with Angela, a brown eyed girl renting next door. The matriarch of the family, Nana, sees what’s happening and senses a “storm” brewing. She warns Joseph not to interfere with his younger brother.

He doesn’t listen to her and one day Joe and Angela disappear. They are found days later in Montauk. Angela’s father threatens to have Joe charged with statutory rape. He’s innocent, but it is agreed by the families that Joe be sent away to live with relatives. David can’t forgive him. This causes a split in the family until they meet again, another summer 20 years later

THE END OF CLASS – COMEDY SCI-FI SCRIPT FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

It’s first period, April 1 in this script for high school students.  The students are sitting in their TV Production/Media classroom waiting for their teacher, Mr Best, to begin the lesson. The bell rings and he leaves the classroom only to return a few seconds later clearly upset. He’s acting very strange, nothing like “cool” teacher the students are used to. Finally he comes out with shocking news that there is nothing out there, outside the classroom. The halls, classrooms, and offices are all empty. Everyone has quite simply vanished. But is it real, is he telling the truth or is it a joke? What should the students do? Who wants to be first to leave? Is this the end?

IRISH JACK – FAMILY COMEDY-DRAMA SCRIPT ABOUT MARRYING OUTSIDE YOUR CULTURE

It was an evening like any other in the Goldberg household as Papa, Momma, Gram, and the children, Joe and Miriam, settled down to eat their supper. Papa was his usual content self, Momma cooked an
outstanding meal as always, Gram was as curious and as talkative as ever and the kids were taunting each other as per the norm. Then Joe got up from the table, a few seconds after he had just sat down.
He told Papa he was going to quickly grab some cigarettes. He told Momma he would be right back.

He never returned. Three years later his family discovers that he is alive, well and performing as an Irish comedian. Joe Goldberg (Jewish Joseph Goldberg) is posing as an Irishman. They cannot believe it.

In this drama, with but seven scenes, the Goldberg’s must come to terms with the loss of their child who is far from dead, the acceptance of things foreign to them but a part of his identity and a new meaning to the word
family.

This is Irish Jack O’ Reilly; lost but not wandering in this family comedy – drama script.
