LEMONADE GURUS – ONE ACT COMEDY ABOUT CLOWNS (EX CLOWNS ACTUALLY)

One act off the wall comedy about clowns, or rather,  two ex clowns who are trying to run a lemonade stand. It’s not the first business (or the second, or the third) that they’ve started, and failed at. Somehow, they just don’t have the talent for it. This time, though, they’re determined to make it work. However, they run into a spot of bother when it is discovered they’re trying to sell on somebody else’s turf. It’s a cut throat business, lemonade selling, as the two unwitting ex clowns are about to find out.

A HOUSE OF DOLLS – SCRIPT ABOUT A CRAZY FAMILY

In this script about a crazy family, Delilah, a young girl studying at college makes a big mistake by inviting her study partner (who just happens to be a boy) round to her house to study together.

Now the females in Delilah’s family, the ‘Austen girls’ are basically made up of women who in their own words “Love men who then break their hearts and leave them!” Besides this tragic characteristic, they all share another – they are beautifully made up and very concerned with their appearances to the point where Delilah’s granny, mother and sister all look very similar, like dolls even. Their world is an old fashioned one – titivate yourself, meet the man of your dreams and get married. That’s what the Austen women do. The fact that Delilah is a physics major baffles them and the fact that she doesn’t want to take over the family hairdressing salon is equally puzzling.

But the real problem for them is that Delilah seems to be making no effort to catch a man. So when she actually brings one round to the house, Heaven help him!

THE FENCE – TEN MINUTE COMEDY ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS

In this ten minute comedy about relationships, we take a humorous look at the lives of two ordinary suburban couples. They are friends and the girls often go round to visit each other as do the guys. They are both at the time of their lives when it’s time to settle down, get married and have kids. It’s clear that that’s what they all want. Or is it?? Perhaps it’s just what they’re telling each other…

‘The fence’ examines the expectations of the girls and then the guys on the other side of the fence, taking the same situations that happen to the couples from completely opposite and funny perspectives. While explaining what happened to their friends, it can be said that the girls tend to embellish somewhat and the guys tend to over dramatize! But if you think that’s not really the case, why not read this funny script set in suburbia?  You’ll identify with it.

THE THINGS THAT HAPPEN IN NEW YORK – DRAMA SET IN NEW YORK

In this drama set in New York, a young couple, Hank and Sarah struggling to make ends meet, lose their apartment and end up moving in temporarily with Hank’s brother Ted, his wife Joyce and their two babies. All in a one bedroom apartment. The stress brought on by losing their apartment after months of trying comes to a head as Hank and Sarah very naturally compare their situation to that of Ted and Joyce. When Sarah reveals that she has done something that in Hank’s eyes is an ultimate betrayal of trust, but in her eyes is something to bring them together, the couple is forced to confront that what they both want from life is ultimately very different.

The title of the play really reflects what happens in New York! The story is very realistic – it has been said that New York is the city where it is so easy to fall off (become homeless) because you give as much as much as you get. The story is an interesting and enlightening account of how a couple can suffer in the city, get a helping hand but still be at its mercy. The powerful way in which Sarah is revealed to be so patient with Hank who is somewhat foul to her and everyone around him is thanks to the writer’s smooth writing.
