The Wilting Press – twenty minute play about life

THE WILTING PRESS – TWENTY MINUTE PLAY ABOUT LIFE AND HELPING OTHERS

Imagine if you had a problem, one that you couldn’t find a solution to. You don’t want to ‘look for help’ at this stage, preferring to try to sort it out yourself. What if you then went for a walk in the park?  On a bench a Wanderer jovially sits with a tattered book in this twenty minute play. The book is a wilting flower press full of the wanderer’s memories.  You sit down. You talk about love, family, life, and what it means to have a conversation that matters.

Three strangers encounter the Wanderer. Burdened by their respective circumstances, each Stranger shares their time and woes with the Wanderer, hoping to move forward.  And so the Wanderer, armed with words and a wilting press, mends these disillusioned hearts with one phrase: “Care to share your troubles?”

The wanderer asks only for a flower for their press from each stranger in return.  Will we ever find out why the Wanderer helps these people? Perhaps not. But maybe that isn’t important.

JINXED – INSANE ONE ACT COMEDY SCRIPT

It’s the usual group therapy session run by the Doc, as she is known to her patients. There’s the twins, charging round the room as usual, Val the angry girl (nobody seems to know why), Nic, the antisocial young man and a new guy, Ludovic who just wants his money back as he doesn’t really need therapy, despite being covered in blood and brandishing a knife. It’s also 50% off everything at the local mall and the masses are surging outside in this insane one act comedy script.

When an actor barges in with a clock strapped to his chest that’s ticking down to zero, the group has to decide what to do. Could it be a time bomb? Nobody wants to find out. Nobody wants to be trapped in the room with 5 other lunatics and ticking timebomb either. But do they have a choice?
