THE ASTOUNDING WORKS OF SIMON TROUT – HILARIOUS TEEN ONE ACT

When Karen Carter has yet another fight with her family and she storms into her room, the last thing she expects to find is a fully grown good looking guy sitting on her bed. After getting over the shock of this (and passing out a few times), she confronts him. It turns out that he is actually a magical creature, called a Sprite, but who is generally known as ‘Simon,’ whose power is to restore balance to those who have called for help.

He assures her that he can change her family to the way she would like them to be. This appeals and so he waves his magic hand over the unsuspecting family who are sitting down to dinner. A series of very funny identical scenes follow in which they are at first made more honest (doesn’t work), more loving (too much!) more affectionate (OMG) and so on until they reach the inevitable conclusion in this hilarious teen one act script.

MISS INDEPENDENT – ONE ACT COMEDY ABOUT WHAT NOT TO DO WHEN YOUR MARRIAGE GOES DOWN THE TOILET

Two-hander one act comedy play script in which an errant husband’s yoga instructor girlfriend, aptly named ‘Çhristmas,’ manipulates the wife into divorcing her husband, the wife’s subsequent disintegration into the classic stages of anger (cured by throwing his stuff out the house), depression (cured by fried chicken) and toyboying (cured by ‘Malcolm’) and her gradual rehabilitation with the love of her son. Nice subtext of the male mid-life crisis.

The play is set at a court hearing of a man from rural Victoria who has been charged with sedition for publishing remarks on the internet that are deciphered as supportive of Al Qaeda. The man’s defense is that he did not publish the remarks but that his chicken had laid an egg on his computer keyboard which caused the random configuration of letters to be posted on the internet. Courtroom drama erupts as accusation fly about who really posted the comments, the defendant, the chicken…or the egg.

Cancelled - off the wall plays one act farce

 [ad name=”Tweet”]

In this one act farce, set in a studio in a radio station in the 1940’s, the cast of a popular radio show are held hostage by one of the show’s sponsors, Monty Navoli, who is furious that the show has been cancelled, and who also, unfortunately, appears to be a member of the mob.  When it is discovered that the producer of the show, Walter St. Paul, has taken Monty Navoli’s money and spent it himself, Monty threatens to shoot him unless the show goes on air one last time. It all falls hilariously apart as the actors struggle to produce a whole show with only a few pages of script, no sound man and a gun pointed at their heads.

The play was selected as a finalist in Riant Theatre’s 2008 Strawberry One-Act Festival, and placed second in the Little Theatre of Alexandria’s 2009 one-act playwriting competition.
