HELL FROZE OVER – COMEDY SCRIPT ABOUT SPORTS

What are the perfect conditions for every American sports fan’s dreams to come true? Why, a temperature drop, of course in this comedy script about sports.

One so low that OJ Simpson (almost) finally confesses, Fahrenheit so
chilly that Magic Johnson is declared HIV free and thermometers correctly reflecting the icy ‘nature’ of things, to the degree that Tom Brady comes clean about Deflate gate. But this could only be a
reality if the temperature was affected in one place specifically, ahem, hell to be exact. On this day, in this sketch comedy, hell froze over and everything in the sporting world went to shit- AKA ….
mushrooms. So, have YOU ever wondered what would happen if hell were to freeze over? Find out tonight on the Chicago Radio- err – rather from Anchors 1, 2 and 3 in the play, Hell Froze Over.

Don’t hold your breath…No actually, today, feel free to do so!

THE FOURTH WALL – ONE ACT TEEN ADVENTURE COMEDY

For those of you that do not know the most important aspect of the moments leading up to the performance of a staged play, LISTEN UP! The fourth wall exists and to all kamikaze’s, beware! Jack,
Jason and Sarah fail to heed this fierce and true warning when they decide to do a bit of exploring on a blank stage, in ‘The Fourth Wall’ – a one act teen adventure comedy.

When the performers discover the kids, they call off their show in the beginning scene and attempt to catch them and take them to the stage manager. When one of the three kids get caught by the performers, the other two kids left must equip themselves with prop weapons and team up with theatre thugs to fight their way through egotistical lead roles, a stunned narrator, epic soldiers, chaotic scene changes and a short tempered stage manager to get their friend back.

In this comedy, a few frivolous minutes of exploration unravel a series of unfortunate events for a show that is already a hot mess. It is up to the Stage Manager to get it together before the show goes on, as he carefully weighs the risk, reward and raucousness of running a revue.

OEDIPUS THE PLAY – ADAPTATION OF CLASSIC GREEK MYTHOLOGY – A PLAY SCRIPT

In Oedipus the play, Oedipus infant son of the King of Thebes is abandoned by his parents when advised by the Oracle that he will kill his father and marry his mother. He eventually ends up as Prince of Corinth. Developing the feeling that he does not belong in Corinth he wanders about Greece and meets his (unbeknowest to him but beknownst to us) biological father whom he kills in a brawl. He then goes into Thebes and marries his mother who, miraculously, has not aged while he was growing up. Later a soothsayer tells Oedipus that he has killed his father and married his mother. Oedipus and his mother find this so appalling that she drinks poison and he plucks out his eyes.

AWAITING PATIENTS – COMEDY FOR HIGH SCHOOL FESTIVALS SET IN THE DOCTOR’S OFFICE

It’s a typical evening in the local doctor’s office and the reception is packed full to the brim with the its share of typical (and atypical) patients. There’s the heavily pregnant lady, demanding Nutella and cantaloupes, her flustered fiance, the seventy seven year old guy who just wants to find the bathroom, the suburban housewife and off course, the local oddball, Tom, who has made it his duty to hit on the air headed receptionist.

There’s only one thing missing and that’s “Cartwright,” the next patient on the doctor’s list. Company policy dictates that the doctor has to wait for any patient that is running late for up to an hour. And so the doctor waits. As does everybody else stuck behind him in the queue.

Tensions and frustrations run high in this off beat comedy by Chris Cartwright. ‘Awaiting Patients’ first premiered at Eastview High School in Apple Valley, MN. It opened on May 23rd, 2014 and was directed by Christopher Cartwright.

WHITE WIDOW – TEEN GHOST STORY SCRIPT

In this teen ghost story script, a bunch of teens play a practical joke on one of the girls, called Sam. In the joke, it appears that the boys have dared the girls to go to a house that burnt down many years ago and to take a picture of themselves in the house to prove that they’ve done it. Local legend has it that the house is haunted by The White Widow who, as a ghost burnt the house and her husband in it, a year to the day after her husband murdered her on their wedding night. They say her young child perished in the blaze as well.

The practical joke turns real when the teens discover that the white widow is in fact real, and still bent on revenge…

CONFORMITY – TEEN DRAMA FOR HIGH SCHOOL

In this teen drama for high school, eight students who have nothing in common are sitting in detention on a Saturday run by the vice principal, Miss Blair. Although they are all so different from each other, they learn that they all do have something in common – each of them has a terrible secret; something bad has happened in their past which has brought them to this point. As they talk about the essay they have been set, “conformity” and the things that have happened to them, they come to the realization that conforming to life’s rules isn’t always for everybody. In order to move on, they need to accept the things that have happened to them because those things made them who they are today. A challenging play for high school drama class, loosely based on the hit movie, “The Breakfast Club.”

FORGOTTEN – TWO ACT FANTASY PLAY FOR HIGH SCHOOL – what happened after Neverland?

Gwendolyn is a young schoolgirl plagued by recurring dreams of an imaginary place and time, not of this earth. Despite her best efforts to control her dreams, they are becoming more real and frequent than ever. But when she wakes up, she cannot remember anything at all, other than a fear of falling. When she sleepwalks and almost falls to her death, her school decide to send her home again. Once home she is sent to a specialist doctor for treatment to try to cure of of her mysterious illness that is causing her nightmares.

fantasy play for high school

But it seems that the imaginary place is very real indeed. Gwendolyn is “Wendy” and she dreams of a very real Neverland. Peter Pan has left Neverland to try and find her, risking the lives of all the people who live there, including the infamous Captain Hook. For Neverland cannot survive without Peter Pan. Hook, desperate to save Neverland, and of course himself, has followed Peter back to our world to find Wendy and to make her forget once and for all.

“Forgotten” is an exploration of J.M. Barrie’s classic children’s story, “Peter Pan” and poses the question of whether it was simply a story, a figment of Wendy’s imagination or a real place. In the 21st century we are accustomed to the concepts of time travel and alternate universes. This fantasy play for high school cleverly switches between, so to speak, the alternate Earths in the story.

A fun play that mixes pirates and adventure with 1906 England. I thoroughly recommend it! Altaire Gural, the playwright, is a member of the playwright’s guild of Canada. Read about author Altaire Gural

SIX DAYS TILL SUNDAY – ONE ACT COMEDY PLAYS FOR TEENS AND AMDRAM

When two friends discover the bodies of two famous missing journalists in a mountain log cabin, miles from where the two were supposed to have disappeared, they read their diary, discovering that the journalists were in fact faking their disappearance in the Australian outback. The two had decided to hide out in the mountains and return, triumphant to reality, having narrowly escaped death in the ”outback.” But in that case, why had they died?

As the two friends read through the diary, one of them decides on a grisly plan to ‘discover’ the bodies of the famous duo, thus bringing fame and fortune to himself.

Six days till Sunday was performed at  the State of Arkansas Regional International Thespian One Act Festival  in Fayetteville, Arkansas in November and  received all superior ratings for its production of Six Days Till Sunday. The one act was selected by the adjudicators to be preformed at the Arkansas State International Thespian Festival in February of 2018.
