IN TENTS – ONE ACT PLAY ABOUT BULLYING

It’s your typical high school camping trip, except not so typical. Forced to come up with an alternative trip due to budget cuts (little Jimmy only got a B in Lit and his daddy sued the school), our home room teacher has come up with a plan. Camping out in the cellar. Six students are chosen and put together for this assignment. Six students who have nothing to do with each other and who will have to get to know each other over the course of an evening. The students are free to leave at any time, but if they do, they fail the class. All they have is a tent (in a bag), a microwave, some microwave meals and some jars (for the necessary). How will they survive the night?

SNOW GOOD – SNOW WHITE THE PANTOMIME

Snow Good a.k.a. Snow White The Pantomime carries a warning –  It is considered dangerous for wearers of spectacles  to attend as it’s so funny it will cause their spectacles to mist up from laughing so hard.  Spectacle cleaning cloths and extra tissues should, therefore, should be carried at every performance. Do not drive or use machinery until the spectacles have been demisted.

An hysterically funny retelling of the Snow White and the seven dwarfs fairy tale as rendered by the Goons, kicked around by Monty Python and crash landed by the Airplane I and II writers and built on this foundation a really twisted tale of jealousy, passion, sausages, stupidity and innocence brilliantly scripted by Keith Passmore.
Grandparents will role in the aisles, parents will go “ooo!” at the verbal and visual puns (of which there are many) and children will be enthralled and everyone will cheer at the end when Good, (“ooo!”) triumphs and the evil Queen is vanquished and later strangled by the Director for changing her lines, (off stage, of course.)

It’s first period, April 1 in this script for high school students.  The students are sitting in their TV Production/Media classroom waiting for their teacher, Mr Best, to begin the lesson. The bell rings and he leaves the classroom only to return a few seconds later clearly upset. He’s acting very strange, nothing like “cool” teacher the students are used to. Finally he comes out with shocking news that there is nothing out there, outside the classroom. The halls, classrooms, and offices are all empty. Everyone has quite simply vanished. But is it real, is he telling the truth or is it a joke? What should the students do? Who wants to be first to leave? Is this the end?

THE WAY OUT – TWO-ACT COMEDY ABOUT ESCAPING FROM THE LOONY BIN

It could not get any worse. Not only was Steve committed to a sanatorium against his will and (cough) better judgement, he’d lost custody of his only daughter and his conniving wife Genia was
dead set on taking his fortune for herself. It seemed the odds were truly against him as the judge who had him committed (and re-committed) was less reasonable than most, the doctors and
therapists at the coo-coo place seemed hard of hearing and his own sanity was living on a prayer. It was clear to Steve; he would almost certainly rot in Westview Residence unless he did something…
and soon… and drastic! His only option: to put his faith in his fellow ‘prisoners’, create a flawless escape plan and hope the sun shone brightly on the ‘crazy ones’ at Westview.

And Steve’s worst nightmare became his wildest dream in this comedy about escaping from the loony bin!

LOVELY, DARK AND DEEP – ONE ACT SCIENCE FICTION PLAY

It’s an arsehole world we live in. You know it, I know it, Dee knows it. Dee knows it well enough for her to lose sleep over it. Pondering the injustices and outraged over the indelicacies of
the human spirit, her only question is ‘Why’?

Although he cannot answer for the world and what it has become, Dee’s dad takes it upon himself to explain why things could be worse and how humanity is not completely forsaken. It’s a story he knows all too well, one he has mulled over all his years since it first aggressively presented itself to him. It is a story that, like many others, is at its core, a lesson and ironically; the lesson was never intended for him.

This is the story: Once upon a time, a guy decided to play a practical joke in which a weird unearthly sound would terrify his wife, in order to cure her of her supernatural superstition. Only, little did he know that his joke would lead to another dimension altogether, a dimension dangerous and deadly. The only way out would be to retain his humanity.

The greatest story ever told, will be yours.

THE ASTOUNDING WORKS OF SIMON TROUT – HILARIOUS TEEN ONE ACT

When Karen Carter has yet another fight with her family and she storms into her room, the last thing she expects to find is a fully grown good looking guy sitting on her bed. After getting over the shock of this (and passing out a few times), she confronts him. It turns out that he is actually a magical creature, called a Sprite, but who is generally known as ‘Simon,’ whose power is to restore balance to those who have called for help.

He assures her that he can change her family to the way she would like them to be. This appeals and so he waves his magic hand over the unsuspecting family who are sitting down to dinner. A series of very funny identical scenes follow in which they are at first made more honest (doesn’t work), more loving (too much!) more affectionate (OMG) and so on until they reach the inevitable conclusion in this hilarious teen one act script.

VILLAINS INCORPORATED – AWARD WINNING TEEN PLAY

Three high school students decide that they would like to make chaos out of the upcoming school Halloween Dance, in Villains Incorporated. Sounds like a typical tale of your average
teenage trouble-makers, right? Wrong! In this comedy, Nefarious, Nemesis and Notorious are just about as un-typical as three teenagers can get; you see they are villains. They were
“born” to create chaos; to nurture it, dote on it, watch it evolve and help it come to life! In fact disorder is such a firm part of their make-up that they would go as far as to be in cahoots with one Virtuous (quite literally, an upright – or uptight? school mate, who would like to lead them onto a more righteous path) in order to achieve their wickedness. In this play though, it isn’t the obvious guess at who learns the moral lesson but it definitely is the more fun choice.

One small step for juvenile delinquents, one giant leap for Villain-kind!

Villains incorporated received 3 Superior ratings out of three at the VBCPS One Act Play Festival in 2015. This is the highest rating possible.
