NO ORDINARY MAN – SERIAL KILLER PLAY OR SCREENPLAY

The seconds drag, the minutes are lengthened, the hours stretch into day 1, day 2, day 3… as Billard tries to crack a suspect’s psyche in this serial killer play or screenplay. He goes by the name “Martin,” the suspect that’s up for the murder of multiple women. As the evidence mounts and points conspicuously to Martin, Billard works with and against the clock to get a confession out of the seemingly disturbed prisoner.

‘Disturbed, psychotic, misunderstood or fearless.’ These are words – words that Martin uses to describe himself, and words Billard uses to describe Martin… Once Martin is ‘shockingly’ linked to the systematic, mental and physical abuse of his own daughter, it is just a matter of time before Billard corners him with a plea bargain that will give the victims’ families the peace of mind (if any is possible) that they deserve. To catch a killer is to hold the banner of justice squarely on ones shoulders and Billard may yet succeed in that respect. In the process he may become a victim of Martin too. You win/you die.

Richard Ramirez, known as the Night Stalker, once said, “even psychopaths have emotions.’ A, ‘’Then again, maybe not,’’ was added to Ramirez statement.

How does a bit of gossip sound? Meet Barry. Barry sees Carrie, spills wine on her and is immediately struck by Cupid’s arrow. Barry proceeds to have Sally, his assistant, deliver a message to Carrie, with a date proposition. Carrie is only convinced by her assistant, Larry, who charmingly seconds Sally’s notion that Carrie has nothing to lose from a night of free dinner and wine, with Barry in this one act period romantic comedy. Carrie agrees to the date. But Carrie has Harry (he does business in America) and let us not forget Hallie, also thrown into the mix for some odd reason. Hallie is a wedding planner, she may or may not be vital to this comedy and she’s an American (interestingly enough). Barry, Carrie, Sally, Larry, Harry and Hallie are all pleased to be a part of London’s finest and The Chase. They bring the ‘50’s to life in a case of the best and worst of times!

First comes love, but just before marriage, here comes dear arrogant, toe-raggedy, uncivilised, clumsy Barry in a weird yet charming carriage!

TRIBUTE TO MOTHER MANGALAM – MALAYSIAN SCREENPLAY

Our children are given less respect than they deserve. It is the same with our women. The acknowledgment is both the credit and the honour of which our worthy have been denied.
A pity, for the child sees truths that the world rarely shows and a woman is able to interpret them.

Such is the sentiment in Tribute to Mother Mangalam, a short Malaysian screenplay, following the life of Mangalam. Mangalam is a girl who’s practically introspective, a young woman who embraces the hardships of what she sees, hears and feels and a mature and wizened senior, who imparts and still welcomes the relentless wisdom that comes with age; for the lessons are plenty and children will listen.

And in silence the inner child speaks, and in silence the outer child is heard.

While we may all be different and unique, our hearts continually beat as one.

Melissa – America, Da Chun – China, Dr. Mutahi – Kenya, Ivan – Russia, Toussaint – Haiti, Hakim – The West Bank, Evelyn – Ireland. Seven people from all over the world, ignorant of each other, are united in this story by the need for salvation from within themselves and from without the tragic and beautiful world they inhabit. Perplexed by the situations in which they find themselves confronted by their most human nature, the seven are forced to deal with the true state of their lives and how reaching out beyond the confines of their own personal world might bring about something different and above all reawakening. A short screenplay that would be great for a student production.

SHADOWS OF TIME – ROMANTIC SCI-FI SCREENPLAYS

Sci-fi screenplays – Vince Gabriel, a wealthy 25-year-old dreamer falls madly in love with a woman he sees dancing in a video clip on the internet. Problem is the show aired fifty years ago. Vince knows the dancer’s name, Sherrie Evans and that the show he viewed was filmed in Los Angles in the year 1965.

Vince’s older brother, Scott, an eccentric genius who just so happened to invite a time machine, reluctantly agrees to send Vince back to 1965. He tells Vince the machine emits radiation, which only allows two trips for the traveler. A third trip would be deadly. And it wouldn’t be instant. It would take about ten years for symptoms to occur and another three painful years before death.

While back in 1965; Vince meets Sherrie and she also falls madly in love with him. All is going well until Scott, Vince’s brother, comes to 1965 and informs Vince that if he doesn’t return to his own time an accident will occur and Sherri will die. At this time Scott does not know when or where the accident will occur. Nor does he know what kind of accident it will be.

Vince, not wanting Sherrie to die returns to his own time, BUThe is crushed by losing Sherrie and becomes a full blown alcoholic. Scott, in the present time, finally finds out where Sherrie is but will not tell Vince until Vince gets straight. Vince cleans up and he goes to visit Sherrie who is now a 65-year-old Catholic Nun.

Scott finds out where and when the accident, which would have killed Sherrie, occurred. He tells Vince but also tells him he can’t return because of the time travel radiation. Vince decides that even though he will die a horrible death, ten good years with Sherrie is worth it and against advice from Scott returns to 1965.

RESILIENCE – FRENCH RESISTANCE SCREENPLAY SET IN WORLD WAR TWO GERMANY

When you’ve lost everything because of war, revenge is a dish best served in blood.

‘Blut und Ehre’ or Blood and Honour, are no doubt firmly intertwined in this war-time tale of a man’s
hunt for freedom, love and self-identity. When Sebastian Moreau, editor in chief of a newspaper in WWII occupied Paris, refuses a request made by his childhood friend Marcel, his simple enough
world unravels into nothing he ever imagined.

Jailed for a “propaganda crime” against the Reich, Sebastian makes use of his only invaluable weapon: the German language. Miraculously escaping bondage he becomes an ally in Germany to those who have helped him survive and seeks to turn the tables on the regime that has ruined Europe. In pursuit of his mission to survive, above all else, he cannot help but wonder of his sister’s fate, the future of his beloved France, incidentally his future as a Frenchman and Marcel…who will surely pay the price for ripping a man’s world apart.

IRON WILLED – WORLD WAR 2 MOVIE SCRIPT

In the close of and post Second World War, idealist Natalia struggles against totalitarianism working against both the Nazi and the Communist East German governments. Dismissed from her job as a schoolteacher she eventually finds semi-skilled work as a seamstress and her need to keep her house and shortages of basic commodities leads her into a life of crime until she is no better than the system. An old colleague from the anti-Nazi days gives her opportunity to; at least, partially redeem herself, both in her own eyes and that of the state. She may not love Big Brother but has learned to accept him as the lesser of two evils. Or is Big Brother the prime cause of the evil? With clever use of symbols, this screenplay will generate much discussion after viewing.

Off The Wall Plays will publish your play and get it out there for you. If your play sells, you will get 80% of the Royalties of each sale from the beginning.

Because Off The Wall Plays is a smaller publishing house, we have the resources and time it needs to get your play out there. It stays in our top ten new plays for the next few months. We place a sample of your script on the website, not the full play so no one will be able to illegally use your work.

If your play sells well, we will add it to our “Best Sellers” list, automatically ranking it higher than ordinary plays, the price increases, and so do your Royalties. Plays bought to be used for a run or a season will also have license fees that will be paid by the organization that purchased the play, and 50% of those will go to the authors as well.

Once your play has been submitted, your play will be reviewed by our editor, who will contact you. Please have a look at our guidelines for submitting your play – by following these guidelines it will help your play sell.  We don’t mind correcting the odd typo, but plays with many spelling mistakes, missing punctuation marks and poor grammar will be sent back to the authors for correction before they can be considered for publishing, so please make sure yours is 100% first before you send it! We also try to get back to authors within a few days at most so they will know almost immediately that their script has been received and whether or not it will be published.
