THE CONFEDERATION OF RADICALLY ALTERED PEOPLE – SUPERHERO PLAY SCRIPT

The Confederation of Radically Altered People takes place in Tyler City in the present day and age. Superheroes exist and the city is protected by the Alliance of Justice against super villains and normal criminals alike. But what would it be like to have a useless or inconsequential “super” ability in a world of real heroes? Dave, the protagonist, has the ability to feel into the minds of others and give them a sharp pain similar to an ice cream headache. After starting a support group for similar people Dave and his compatriots are thrust into the roles of unlikely saviors when a new powerful arch-villain abducts and imprisons the Alliance of Justice.

“Brain-Freeze,” as Dave is soon known by, saves the day along with his six teammates which includes a person who can rewind time in 15 second increments (“Rewind”), a woman who can channel super strength, but always at a cost (“Side Effect”), as well as others who use their own special abilities to triumph over evil.

The Confederation of Radically Altered People was produced at Laney High School for a three night run last spring and had a very successful production as well as being previewed at the All County Play festival held by New Hanover County.

GRAY MATTERS – SHORT FUNNY MONOLOGUE FOR A MALE ACTOR

In this short funny monologue written for a single male actor, the headquarters of THE BRAIN are occupied by a single young man, all dressed in gray, whose job it is to guide a typical young guy’s BODY through his days and nights. The young man, of course, is all knowing (and a know it all!) and takes his job very seriously from reminding him how many brain cells he has just lost with his recent alcohol binge to the name of the girl he met the other day. All in a day’s work for a busy know it all brain! A funny monologue idea for high school or college drama class.

THE MAYHEM MOTEL – TWO ACT AMERICAN FARCE

It’s not destined to be Hector’s day. He’s just been told by his doctor that he has a kidney stone, which he urgently needs to pass. In order to do that, Hector needs to relax as much as possible. Peace and quiet. Check.

But what could be more relaxing than a day spent behind the desk of a quiet country motel? A local hick checks in, complete with his hunting rifle and a couple of dead squirrels. So far, so good. Then, when you add the arrival of a famous baseball player, followed closely by two rather demanding female fans of his, whose life ambition is to sleep with the aforementioned baseball player, his doppelganger (who no one else knows about,) whose life ambition is to sleep with the fans of the famous baseball player, and then the very high maintenance wife of the baseball player, you have a recipe for disaster.

And no kidney stone. To find out if it gets passed, read on…..

“All hail his royal eminence Duncan (“ugh, must we”) the King of Scotland (“not for long”)! May he live forever (“or die trying”)”

What does it take to kill a king? The time: medieval Scotland, the place: Dunsinane Castle – home to Lord and Lady Macbeth, the task: kill the King. Ambitious as the crime may be the young Lady Macbeth is dead-set on murdering King Duncan of Scotland, to ensure her Lordly husband’s claim to the throne. As she plots against the unsuspecting and happy-go-lucky king she finds she is more interested in the crown than her foolhardy husband is but is nonetheless undeterred. When her plan involving three witches implodes, she decides on a method which is well-known throughout history to be a woman’s weapon of choice… But alas, as meticulous as one can be, success is not always a guarantee. This is a story of how actions seldom have consequences, how lessons may be taught but not learnt and how an eye for an eye remains to be seen.

HOSSBACK – AN OFF THE WALL COMEDY

This satirical off the wall comedy rips off typical cowboys from the old west, or at least modern society’s idea of what cowboys actually were like by taking an over the top view of them. From the way they loved their hosses as if they were real women, to their predilection for hanging ‘criminals’ of an description to their manner of speaking – all those cowboy traits we are so fond of are chewed up and spat out again.

PIRATE APPRECIATION DAY – COMEDY SCRIPT ABOUT PIRATES

Harken, mateys! Modern piracy no longer has its “good” name — or so claims the Pirate Appreciation Movement. This group of buccaneers believes commandeering a cruise ship on the Talk Like a Pirate Day holiday is the proper route to infamy. Its saltiest members, Walker D. Plank and sidekick Halitosis Halvard, sneak aboard the M.S. Stillwater as it departs for a Caribbean cruise.

They discover more than they bargained for in a colorful ensemble of fellow passengers. Frederick Feedle Fillingsworth is a fugitive museum curator with a valuable stolen artifact. Teenage nerd Paisley Nettleton is a prodigy of ancient languages and archeology, hovered over by his squabbling parents, Ned and Doris. The Captain — the hairiest man of the Seven Seas — would do anything to win the affections of Bridget, the mysterious yeoman.

By the time night falls on the first day at sea, a tentacled monster will be summoned, a sword fight will be fought with plastic butter knives, and someone will take a one-way voyage to Davy Jones’s locker. Aye so, but ’tis good to be a pirate!

The Waynesboro Players Community Theater premiered the play on Feb. 23–26, 2012 for a 4-show run in Waynesboro, VA. and was hailed as an “Uproarious comedy” by the Augusta Free Press.

THANK YOU FOR SHOPPING HOOCHUM’S BARGAIN BASEMENT – FUNNY THRILLER SCRIPT

This funny thriller script turns the classic horror tale of the young couple alone in their car in a deserted area encountering a frightening or horrific thing on its head. A young couple have travelled to the BAD SIDE OF TOWN to get a coffee maker from Hoochum’s Bargain Basement, as the glass in their one has cracked, and they want to do something AWFUL. They want to replace the new one with the cracked one and take it back for a refund, PRETENDING THAT IT’S THE NEW ONE. SHOCKING!!!

They’ve had to travel across town, as their usual store burnt to the ground recently under VERY MYSTERIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES, in which the little old lady who owned the store barely escaped with her life. Rumour has it, however that the little old lady had a graduate student on the side.  On that fateful day he was working in the back of the store, and was very badly burnt in the fire and HE HASN’T BEEN SEEN SINCE…

Rumour also has it that he wasn’t, in fact using the old lady for her body, but for her coupon skills, which she was famed for. She could get a better deal with her coupons than anyone, and he was taking her for all that she knew.

But now that the couple has bought their new coffee machine, they’re about to go for a drive to a very deserted spot where anything could happen…

SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN UGLY SISTERS – SNOW WHITE PANTOMIME SCRIPT

Once upon a time, there was a wicked queen with an evil sidekick of a magic mirror. She was also the most beautiful woman in the world. Unfortunately this didn’t bode well for anyone else who was well, even remotely good looking. When the Princess Snow White blossoms into beauty, and the mirror informs the queen that she is shortly (well next Tuesday to be exact) to move to second place, the queen decides that someone else needs to take drastic action, and she sends her huntsman to kill the princess and bring back her spleen. Since she doesn’t actually know what a spleen is, Snow White and the Huntsman fool the queen, and Snow White runs away into the deep forest.

There she meets the seven ugly sisters who kindly take her under their wing when they hear the queen’s evil plan. In the meantime, the mirror has informed the evil queen that actually, Snow white is still alive and kicking in the woods. The Queen decides to do her in with the aid of a magical nuclear cigar, delivered by Royal Mail.

The seven ugly sisters leave for work as air hostesses on Goldonian airways, leaving Snow White alone in the cottage with strict instructions not to accept any multicoloured apples from strange old women.
Snow white is interrupted by the arrival of the ever so sexy (but boy does he know it) Prince Valiant, who is Revolta’s (one of the ugly sisters) brother. He brings an invitation to his engagement party for his sister, Revolta.

Snow White is surprised to find that he not only has no idea who his bride to be actually is, but that she should count herself lucky to have him as a husband! He tries to flirt with her but fails horribly and leaves, but not before accepting a package from Royal Mail for her (The postman is the queen in disguise) containing two nuclear cigars. When the seven sisters arrive back from work, they’re all excited by the package, but when Snow White lights the cigar for Hideosa, it backfires, sending her into a magical sleep.

The girls summon Valiant who happily kisses Snow White and wakes her up. He in turn is amazed to find that she actually doesn’t want to marry him on the spot. They are interrupted by the arrival of the queen who has decided to kill Snow herself (properly this time.) The sisters save the day by lighting the other cigar and aiming it at the queen, sending her into a magical sleep. Snow White becomes the new queen of the magical kingdom and they all live happily ever after.

A fun non traditional pantomime filled with cleverly adapted  Show tunes and witty dialogue by best selling playwright Claire Demmer.  This pantomime would suit a typical drama group where the majority of the players are female – but the sisters can just as easily (and humorously be played by males.)

Notes: The author will allow workshopping of the script.  All of the songs can be substituted at the director’s discretion.  The nuclear cigars can be substituted for any other weapon of choice.
