IRISH JACK – FAMILY COMEDY-DRAMA SCRIPT ABOUT MARRYING OUTSIDE YOUR CULTURE

It was an evening like any other in the Goldberg household as Papa, Momma, Gram, and the children, Joe and Miriam, settled down to eat their supper. Papa was his usual content self, Momma cooked an
outstanding meal as always, Gram was as curious and as talkative as ever and the kids were taunting each other as per the norm. Then Joe got up from the table, a few seconds after he had just sat down.
He told Papa he was going to quickly grab some cigarettes. He told Momma he would be right back.

He never returned. Three years later his family discovers that he is alive, well and performing as an Irish comedian. Joe Goldberg (Jewish Joseph Goldberg) is posing as an Irishman. They cannot believe it.

In this drama, with but seven scenes, the Goldberg’s must come to terms with the loss of their child who is far from dead, the acceptance of things foreign to them but a part of his identity and a new meaning to the word
family.

This is Irish Jack O’ Reilly; lost but not wandering in this family comedy – drama script.

SQUAWK – THIRTY MINUTE COMEDY SCRIPT

In this thirty minute comedy script, Patience Warriner is trapped in a recurring dream that she cannot escape. What is real ? She doesn’t know anymore, but the one constant thing is her hatred of the seagulls who continually inhabit her area and whose squawking, excreting presence regularly sets off her car alarm, wakes her up and drives her to the brink of insanity, or perhaps even beyond it ? The play is set on a night where she is awoken, yet again, by squawking seagulls, while her younger partner Albert sleeps like a baby. As the car alarm goes off she is so angry she storms outside and, from noises heard, it is obvious that she has thrown a stone at them and a gull has dropped from the sky, landing on her car, setting her alarm back off. Patience comes back in, sheepishly climbs back into bed and in no time the bedroom is an Avian Court of Law, and she is on trial for the unlawful killing of Sidney the Seagull.

She then wakes up to find herself back in the normal world. But was it a dream? When she comes home the next day to find her partner is having an affair and the same seagulls return to her flat as well, everything becomes a lot weirder.  An off beat comedy that’s ‘for the birds!’

Squawk was runner-up at the 2015 Somerset Drama Fellowship Original Play writing Competition.

Let him who hath understanding reckon the word of the Lord: that the Second Coming shall reveal the fate of the world. The fate of the world will lie in the hands of the One born of a mildly successful rock star and she who runs a cafe.

Foretold by the papers that yellow and recounted by a customer who is not the most generous in his consistent purchases of a cup of tea, Kerry could not be bothered by Colin’s story of the day, in this one-act play… until she hears of the link between her mother, Pat and a man known as Jed Crest. In less than thirty minutes, Kerry discovers the wonder of hearing an unbelievable story whose elements are so incredible that to believe them would be confirmation that she’s mental and at the same time perfectly sane.

After all, a casual conversation has eliminated the notion that Kerry is just a girl who works in a cafe as one who might actually be an integral part of the Second Coming and could very well be the Second Coming itself.

They are waiting on a third actor, who just happens to be the young handsome lead for a well known local medical drama. When he arrives, it becomes apparent that the young actor actually knows very little about Shakespeare (But he did some in high school.) At first, the the two veterans are not amused, but then they decide to mess with him, thinking that he would never get the part, being so unskilled. However, their plans go awry when it turns out that the director plans to give the part to the handsome young actor in spite of all that, because he thinks it will attract an audience. And that on top of that, he wants them to help the young actor get the part.

Margaret Hubbard is rich; painfully and decadently rich. Mrs. Hubbard is also dead and according to her will she is determined to drive her husband crazy (one last, exquisite time) with a to-do list that would have him claim the will’s contents only upon the doings on the list being completed. In fact, the rest of those on the receiving end of said will (who are interestingly enough mostly Hubbard
Manors’ staff) may only receive their inheritance should Mr. Hubbard succeed. This is a story we have seen time and again: what adversity can teach the hero about themselves, when they commit to taking on the challenge and the tricky consequences thereof. It’s a story about our hero, Jeremy Hubbard, husband to a recently deceased dragon and how he endeavours to fulfil his destiny and
claim what is ‘rightfully’ his – a temptingly sumptuous inheritance, of course. Our hero faces the dragon beyond the grave with the help of the staff and the fire-breathing lizard’s lawyer. And the
lesson? It begins and ends as the story does; with insatiability.

NOTHING PERSONAL, JUST BUSINESS – FUNNY ONE ACT SCRIPT

In this funny one act script for eight actors, Reginald Forester, billionaire lives the life others only dream about. He has a faithful wife, a beautiful young daughter, an affair on the side and a house boy who works for him without having to pay him a cent because of a debt his father owed him. He seems to have it all. Except for the fact that his wife is actually a raving alcoholic, his affair is in reality a paid hooker and his daughter is having an illicit affair with the house boy and plans to spend the rest of her life with him, instead of the very wealthy man her father has chosen for her.

Things all start to unravel after a seemingly innocent poker game in which Reginald lets a secret slip out – the fact that he has lied to his houseboy for years about the debt and that he owes him nothing, and has in fact been ripping him off for years. His reason – it’s nothing personal of course, just business.

HUMAN RAT LAB – HIT COMEDY SCRIPT ABOUT AN UNCONVENTIONAL PRIVATE EYE

Extorting big business? Yes! Writing ‘them’ a damning blackmail letter? Of course!
Demanding hundreds of thousands from this ‘seedy’ corporation? Naturally, it should be easy. But that is not the case when Valerie Ann Bennett, head of said company, hires a
private detective to find the culprit before he brings her pharmaceutical empire down to its knees. Unconventional, unconvincing, and un- everything really, Charles Picket would not be
Ms. Bennett’s first choice for a P.I. were it not for the discretion he organically provides.
Throw in his cleaner, and a struggling stuttering actor as his associates and this case looks like it could very well implode in Ms. Bennett’s face. In fact it does indeed implode. But not
in a way she ever suspected in this hilarious hit comedy script.

Human Rat Lab has had a successful run and received rave reviews in France. This is a burlesque comedy in the lines of Lucille Ball and Jerry Lewis in their best days.

“You have a staggeringly good ear for dialogue. The words fairly crack along. And you have a good eye/mind for the “memorable scene” – I mean things like the marvellous Spanish nurse scene, and the crazy Viagra fuelled scene.” – Robert Jarman, Co-founder and director of Hobart’s highly successful Blue Cow Theatre and recipiendary of the Federation Medal for his services to Performing Arts in 2002.

It’s a typical evening in the local doctor’s office and the reception is packed full to the brim with the its share of typical (and atypical) patients. There’s only one thing missing and that’s “Cartwright,” the next patient on the doctor’s list. Company policy dictates that the doctor has to wait for any patient that is running late for up to an hour. And so the doctor waits. As does everybody else stuck behind him in the queue.

ONE FINE DAY IN THE OPERATING ROOM – SHORT MEDICAL SKIT

In this short medical skit, set in the operating room, a team of incompetent medical staff including a surgeon, nurse and anesthesiologist and of course the unfortunate patient are being filmed for a brand new live television show, “Operation TV. ” Although viewers are warned that the show may be a bit ‘too intense’ for some people, it seems that operation TV is a success because no one likes watching a doc mess up more than a live TV audience.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A VERY SHORT SKIT AND THE WHOLE SCRIPT IS JUST 1 PAGE LONGER THAN THE SAMPLE SCRIPT
