I have written a number of plays for play festivals, as well as read through hundreds of plays on the internet, and I realized there is gap in the publishing industry where good authors struggle to get their plays published. So I have created an online play publishing company that will publish and sell plays!

YOU’RE NEVER TOO OLD – THREE ACT COMEDY SCRIPT

In this witty three act comedy script, two aging brothers are reunited after a sixteen year old argument only to pick up on their sibling rivalry where it left off.

Seventy year old Max Stuart has sold the family business, an antique store in New York, and has moved to the Sunshine State with his wife of fifty-one years, Florence. Recovering from a heart attack has made Max feel old and useless, which has made him bitter and unforgiving.

As Florence tries to nurse him back to good health, Barney, Max’s fraternal twin brother, shows up sixteen million dollars richer, with a twenty-three year old bride and a business opportunity for Max.

Barney, who has always been able to talk Max into anything, convinces Max to run one of Barney’s video stores, which Barney has purchased with his millions. Max ends up humiliated when he gets talked into dressing up in a Donald Duck costume to promote some new Disney videos. This causes old hostilities to surface and the brothers are at each other again.

Barney’s problems escalate when Trixie, his bride, announces that she is pregnant. This sends Barney to the hospital in what appears to be a heart attack of his own.

Florence has been running interference throughout this whole episode and manages to get Max and Barney alone so they can work things out, once and for all. After more sibling rivalry, they both realize that brothers should be like best friends and that there is nothing more precious than family.

“You’re Never Too Old” recently received a very successful run at the Cultural Park Theater in Cape Coral, Florida.

IRON WILLED – WORLD WAR 2 MOVIE SCRIPT

In the close of and post Second World War, idealist Natalia struggles against totalitarianism working against both the Nazi and the Communist East German governments. Dismissed from her job as a schoolteacher she eventually finds semi-skilled work as a seamstress and her need to keep her house and shortages of basic commodities leads her into a life of crime until she is no better than the system. An old colleague from the anti-Nazi days gives her opportunity to; at least, partially redeem herself, both in her own eyes and that of the state. She may not love Big Brother but has learned to accept him as the lesser of two evils. Or is Big Brother the prime cause of the evil? With clever use of symbols, this screenplay will generate much discussion after viewing.

FISHWRAP – TWO ACT COMEDY PLAY ABOUT A NEWSPAPER

“Fishwrap” hilariously details the challenges newspapers face in the online age. While management tries to keep the Independent afloat financially, the news staff is reporting on a major story sure to ruffle feathers. They’re also being sued by a local man, who swears they’re in cahoots with law enforcement to bring him down. On top of that, the inconvenient omission of the letter ‘L’ in a local store ad for grandfather clocks makes the staff at the local newspaper convinced that they’re in for a brilliant day. And things can only get better!

It was produced in September by Artists for the Al at the Al Ringling Theatre in Baraboo, attracting more than 1,500 spectators for six shows and raising $16,000 for restoration of the theatre.

A payment unkind – one act drama about sexual exploitation

drama about sexual exploitation

Three women find themselves trapped in a small basement room of an office building after the lift takes them down instead of to the floors they wanted to go to. They’ve not met before. There’s initial tension as a result of being stuck in this small room. And then increasing tension between them as it is revealed why each of them is in the building. They are able to establish contact with the reception desk – so they know they will be freed – but they don’t know when. They side with each other in different combinations as arguments develop – the main disagreement being about Alex Naylor an entertainment impresario whose office is on the seventh floor of the building. Is he a sinner or a saint? Why has Martine, one of his former proteges, come to see him? Is Hazel really his PA which she claims to be? Rhona is in the building for a different reason – but this too connects with the underlying theme of how men sexually dominate and exploit women.

A Payment unkind was performed in 2011 at three different Drama Festivals.  It allows for strong performances by each of the three female actors – whose characters are very individual. One of the actors won the best Actress award at one of the drama festivals.

Genre: One act drama about sexual exploitation of young women

Type:
One act play

Cast: 3F, young adult to 30’s

Length: 30-40 minutes

Suitable for: PG needed as mild sexual descriptions and references are present

Ages of the cast: Young adult to 30’s

Set: The play is set in the basement of an office building – dimly lit and claustrophobic. The basement is being used as a storage area. It is an untidy place where a number of things have been dumped. For example – boxes, a table with an upturned chair on top of it, files and a pile of old celebrity magazines. Off stage to one side (either left or right it’s not important which way round) – are the lift (elevator) doors. Off stage on the opposite side are the fire doors leading to the stairs. There needs to be a telephone (suggested this is on one of the boxes) with the cord hanging down behind so that the plug end can’t be seen. Two sound effects are required – the “ping” to announce the arrival of a lift (elevator) and a bell or tone caller for the telephone. The character Martine has a mobile phone in her handbag. The character Hazel has a (stage) knife in her handbag.

Level of difficulty: 7/10 – building up the tension towards the climax of the play

In this one act couple drama, which is part of the well reviewed ‘Ugly Art’ series by Terry Roeche, a married couple is at an art gallery, viewing a red painting. They have not been as close to each other recently, and despite the fact that they are out together, both have concerns about their marriage and whether or not ‘It’s over.’

UGLY ART is a series of related scenes that take place before an imaginary red painting during an art gallery opening. The art is from monochromatic painter Barnard Surio.

The characters interpret the red painting, how they see the painting reflect who they are as people; loving, hopeful, hateful, jaded and so on …
