MARVIN’S FETISH – GAY DRAMA FOR TWO ACTORS

For one night you would have yourself a married man. One elegant night he would be yours. Yours to caress, laugh with, divulge your darkest secrets to and indulge in your sweetest fantasies with.
One night. One night only. Marvin had this one night planned out to a T; from the manner in which John would address him and others around them, to what he would wear, Marvin left nothing to be
desired, after all he was paying for the ‘services’ of a flawlessly masculine man; he was paying for the ‘services’ of John.

In this gay drama for two actors, we discover what a burning passion for the popular high school jock has become for old Marvin. But (“but’s” seem to be the norm for these tricky transactions) there was more to it than a payment received when it came to Johns’ M.O. And his M.O. would prove a bit too fabulous for the one night Marvin had prepared.

Marvin’s Fetish achieved finalist status in Tennessee Williams’ prestigious one-act play festival in New Orleans, and has been hailed as one of the most original two-character gay plays that has ever been written and as one of the most clever and unpredictable psychological thrillers of recent times.

Marvin’s Fetish has enjoyed three performances: The LGBT Center at 208 West 13th Street, New York City, Kairo’s Poety Café at 81 Christopher Street, New York City, and Moonfire (courtesy of Amethyst Nemzoff) at 305 Seventh Avenue, New York City. The last two readings were directed by Alan Baxter and featured DeAngelo Justice (as Marvin Casper) and Mark Parker (as John Corelli).
